Getting started
Our rafting base is situated in the heart of rural Canterbury in the shadow of the majestic Southern Alps. After having a brief on the day and gearing up we’ll drive through this beautiful scenery to our starting point above the Rangitata Gorge.
Learn the ropes
We wouldn't want to just drop you in the deep end without the key skills! We teach you all the skills you need on the river. The first part of our trip is on (mostly!) flat water so you can learn the basics of paddling, raft and river safety, meet your new raft family and generally get comfortable before we hit the white water.
Hit the big time
Once you've got the hang of things we get into the good stuff - the glorious Rangitata Gorge. In this wild canyon, you'll need all of your newly learned skills as you paddle your way through towering rapids, tight gaps and rocky outcrops. Don't worry though - if some of the rapids look a bit much, there'll be a chance to hop out and walk around them with our photographer.
Grab a hard-earned BBQ
It wouldn't be a Rangitata Rafts trip with out some hard-earned grub at the end. For all our trips we put on a classic kiwi BBQ while you have a hot shower and check out the pictures from your trip. Then we all tuck in to a tasty South Canterbury sausage and regale each other with tales of our triumph! Beer and wine available for purchase during the BBQ.
